The Belpiano ski resort
offers a spectacular mountain landscape around Resia Lake . Here, winter sports enthusiasts of all types find a wide range of activities and leisure facilities throughout the winter.
When the 6 km long and 1 km wide Resia Lake freezes over, a 40 cm thick layer of ice allows ice skaters and speed skaters to enjoy themselves on a huge area. Within this largest natural ice rink in South Tyrol
there extends the sunken church tower of Curon/Graun
, near the three speed skating lanes. But Resia Lake is also a top spot for ice kiters
and snow kiters
. The highlight of the international snow kiting elite is the Snowkite World Championship
at Resia Lake. Ice climbers will find a wide range of five different ice climbing areas, with frozen waterfalls and ice tower facilities.
Winter hikers and snowshoe hikers in and around Belpiano will find many groomed trails leading through the snowy forests. One of the most popular winter hikes leads around Resia Pass, while the high plateau near the lakes of Resia and San Valentino is particularly suitable for cross-country skiing
, with 48 km of trails running through open woods or sunny fields.
The three-country ski trail crosses Switzerland and Austria at the ski resort of Nauders. Cross-country ski lovers are especially fond of the Weißkugel trail at Vallelunga
, with a total length of 15 km at an altitude of 1900m a.s.l.
Tobogganing is big fun for youngsters and adults alike. This classic group sport can be enjoyed in Resia/Reschen and San Valentino/St. Valentin at two excellent toboggan runs
that are lit daily from 6 to 11 p.m. The local sports shops offer sleighs for rent.
